While it is hard to put a price on a brilliant smile, we know one of the biggest questions potential patients have about orthodontic treatment is how much it is expected to cost. Let’s consider the cost of getting braces and what you’re getting out of braces.
As with any orthodontic treatment, the cost of braces largely depends on exactly what type of treatment is needed. Braces can fix a myriad of dental and bite issues. Some of these issues can be a bit more complicated than just the slight alignment of a few teeth. Having braces for eight months will cost less than having them for two years, but some issues take longer to correct than others. Specialty braces, such as ceramic braces, which are more subtle and perfect for adult wearers, tend to cost a bit more than traditional silver braces.
How Much Do Braces Cost?
Every orthodontist office sets their own prices when it comes to braces, Invisalign, and any other treatment. For example, at Smith Orthodontics, we offer unique braces such asWildSmiles Braces, Mascot Braces, and gold braces for the same cost as silver, which not all practices do.
When you pay for braces, you are not just getting metal brackets in your mouth. You are also getting everything else that goes into creating a long-term, healthy, straight smile. This includes all appointments, x-rays, upkeep of records for future reference, and retainers afterward.
You may already have an insurance plan that will cover the cost or partial cost of orthodontic treatment. We recommend checking with your insurance provider to see what your options may be.
Every patient who comes to Smith Orthodontics for a free consultation is given a written estimate of the treatment cost, and financing options, including insurance, are explained in detail.
Payment Plans and Care Credit
The majority of our patients do not have room in their budget to pay for most orthodontic treatments all at once, so there are two different payment options.
We offer in-office payment plans that allow patients to pay a reasonable down payment at the beginning of treatment and make affordable monthly payments. Our payment plans are interest-free and managed through us rather than a third party.
We also accept payments through Care Credit. Care Credit offers short-term financing options for healthcare costs not covered by insurance, including orthodontic treatment. This program is also interest-free as long as the balance is paid in full by the end of the term.
HSAs and FSAs
Health savings accounts (HSAs) are offered to people who have certain insurance plans and allow them to set aside pre-tax dollars for medical care. Flexible spending accounts (FSAs) do the same for those with normal deductibles, but the money saved must be used by the end of the year. Regardless of if you have an HSA or a FSA, both of these accounts can be used to pay for braces.
Military Discount
To show our gratitude to those who have served or are currently serving, we offer a 10% discount to veterans, service members, and their immediate families. We also accept all major military dental insurance plans to make treatment as affordable as possible.
